Trigger warning: Attempted rape

I don’t do books about rape well at all. Usually I shut those books and never look back. With this book I don’t know why but I kept reading. Granted she wasn’t actually raped but it was a close call so if this is a trigger for you this book might not be the best for you. Then this woman runs through a he forest shoeless and stumbles on this private security firm. Enter Gage who tackles her and for some reason I don’t understand she’s instantly drawn to this man. I man who (after she was nearly raped) tackles her from behind, pins her down and straddles her. Yes she fights back and yes he eventually takes care of her but her initially response to him is seriously messed up in my opinion. Not to mention Gage himself who only sees women as objects to have a one night stand with. I didn’t care for his character at all. I didn’t like the deputy sheriff or the brother Phoenix. Then there the step mom who comes off creepy to me. Weird vibes. Probably the last book in the series I’ll be reading
