Six Thinking Hats: An Essential Approach to Business Management by Edward de Bono
2.0
I want to love professional and personal development books - I really do - but they constantly come up short. "Six Thinking Hats" is no exception.
The core idea is great - tapping into different aspects of your thinking to solve problems holistically - but it also cannot sustain an almost 200 page book. There are about 50 pages that are actually helpful, the rest is filler.
And, I recognize this was written in the 1980s, but reading it today you see underlying misogyny in de Bono's examples. Many of the negative ways of thinking are assigned to women while the positive (and proper) ways of thinking are assigned to men. Intentional? Hard to say, but it calls into question his bonafides.
