You know what's better than an epic fantasy series? One with an even more epic conclusion. Just when I thought Chakraborty's storytelling, plot-building, and character development couldn't get any better than they already were, she goes and proves me wrong with The Empire of Gold.

I can't dive into details as I don't want to spoil anything, but WOW. This entire series is about magic, so it's only fitting that its reading experience is just as magical. I haven't cared about characters in a book/series this much since I was a kid. The al-Qhatani siblings are my favorites of the series with Ali being my ultimate favorite. Is he annoying at times throughout the trilogy with his religious superiority and tunnel vision for what he thinks is right? Yes. But for me, his character arc is just as monumental as Nahri's.

If you've been on the fence about reading this series, I'm telling you to take a chance and pick up The City of Brass. I'm sure glad I did.

Oh also, I still hate Dara. He can choke.
