As far as debut novels go this is a well done book with a decent cliffhanger.
The fights scenes particularly well written and engaging. A few typical underdog type tropes with Cego but the twist comes along and makes it all make sense.
I notably enjoyed the lack of romance in all honesty and it’s refreshing to read something that isn’t so “driven by the love of their life” vibe.
Pacing was decent, and as much as I enjoyed the discussion in martial arts and it’s importance etc .. I do feel there were a few elements that were repeated a few times which could have cut 10% of the total story.
