Sadly, this fell a bit short of the first book for me. To start, we aren't reminded of any of the worldbuilding or previous plot events from Spellbound. I only read it a couple of months ago but I was still a bit lost at times since my memory isn't brilliant. And then Rory and Arthur don't actually spend much time on page together; they're often off doing their own thing separately, which didn't really hold my attention.
Still, it was enjoyable enough, and I do love both the 1920s New York setting and Rory and Arthur (and Jade and Zhang!).
