I loved 90% of this book. It took me a really long time to warm up to this series and I really loved it, until the final climax of this book.
SpoilerThe ending was a big fucking disappointment and I don't think I will ever be over my anger and frustration. Not only do we have our female character loses all her powers, but we also have someone else defeat the Big Bad of the series. We've spent 8 books building up to Aelin saving everyone, and then she loses her powers and its a minor character that defeats the Big Bad? It's like if at the end of Harry Potter, he lost his magic, and Justin Finch-Fletchly ended up killing Voldemort. No real pay of, no feeling of triumph for all she's done and been through? Incredibly disappointing and it has tainted my feelings towards the entire series. I finally felt like there would be a good pay off for it's shitty beginning but no, it was a big fucking let down.
I am very disappointed. It is so hard to give this book a star rating because of the 10% that not only was subpar, but actively ruined the rest of it for me. It is only getting this star rating because the 90% was good. If it was down to the 10% then it would be getting 0 stars.
