Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Did not finish book. Stopped at 9%.
I was struggling to get into the story so decided to see how it was received by friends with similar taste. It was not a hit for the friends I spoke to and from what I understand the story stays pretty heavy/dark/intense, including a bit of literal torture in later books, and I'm not feeling invested enough to go on that journey with these characters.
That's not to say it's not a good story, but I don't think it's a good fit for me, at least right now.
