Wonderland by Juno Dawson

3.0

I read this in 2 sittings however it wasn't until the last 1/3 of the book where I found it got interesting. At the beginning I found myself predicting what was going to happen and was waiting around. I haven't read 'clean' or 'meat market' by Juno, so I'm unable to say if this is my favourite out of the 'London series'. I also haven't read a lot of fantasy/mystery which this is often categorised as, but I know this won't be the best in those genres.

I respected how Alice was trans and spoke about her journey as well as her mental health. I personally struggle with a lot of mental health issues, and also hear the voice in my head which Alice describes as 'other Alice'. I've never read a book where that's been mentioned which I like to see.

I'm giving this 3 stars because I wasn't hooked within the first few chapters and felt that this book could've been at least 100 pages shorter.

This was read for my 'read the first book you touch' and 'read a book in a genre you've always wanted to read more from' challenge for The Reading Rush 2020. This was also week 4's book for the Read With Pride summer read-a-thon 2020 hosted by Lucy Powrie.
