Two-day read. It's true that I was splashed on the beach with nothing else to do than laying in the sun and reading, but I also feel that this series is getting better and better as it moves on with the action. In this one, Irene and Kai get involved in a political conflict between two dragons and it cannot be easy peasy, of course. For me, this book being placed in the 1920s, one of my favourite decades, is a certain plus, though I'm not entirely into gangs and mafia action. But getting out of Victorian London is always a plus in my book.

The action and thrill are getting more intense, as well as the dive into dragon mythology. I'm less happy about the arc regarding Irene's parents, which was apparently abandoned after the author gave us a bone, so to say, in the third novel of the series. I hope it will be revisited in the last volume, as I feel the need of a little bit more detail about the Library history and Irene's own history.

I don't care about the romantic elements in this book (and in the previous one as well), mostly because it feels forced. It's like the author wants to push some romance, but has no idea what to do with it so she just tests the waters to see what works. But the issue is that nothing she has tried really works and either part of this love triangle feels forced and honestly completely unnecessary, given the amount of action that is entertaining on its own. Vale's absence from this one was a plus, though. I don't really care about someone who is just another Sherlock Holmes.

I have already started on the last volume and I really hope this series ends with a bang.
