A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn

4.0

Lottie has found herself in desperate need of money after being fired by her so-called best friend. After deciding the only solution is to find herself a rich husband, imagine her surprise when the first person she runs into on her search is Huxley, a billionaire coincidentally in need of a fake pregnant fiance as part of a business deal. Although they don’t particularly like each other, pair of them strike a deal, but when they move in together, the attraction between them becomes hard to deny.

This was a really fun read. It’s genuinely very funny, with some parts making me laugh out loud. There are some clumsy parts in the writing that I found a bit distracting - some words and phrases that I found a bit cringey - but for the most part it was very easy to read. The external plot wasn’t my favourite either - there were some moments I found a bit weird and uncomfortable to read, but it did genuinely have me wondering how on earth the characters were going to resolve this.

Both Huxley and Lottie were likeable characters and I found myself rooting for both of them, even when their actions were in conflict with one another. Their relationship worekd really well for me: alongside the humour and silliness there was a good dose of angst and pining and the sexual tension was ridiculously high. I liked that they took the time to get to know one another as well, it led to some very sweet moments. The sex scenes were very hot and well-written and perfectly suited their characters. I also liked how their romance concluded - it had a good grovel and a fun epilogue.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. There were some really fun parts to it and the central romance was really steamy and well-written. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a funny, steamy billionaire romance with a fake relationship a lot of forced proximity.
