The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes

4.0

I really enjoyed reading this book, although not as much as other JoJo Moyes books I've read. I have only read a few of hers so far, and have adored them. Yet, I was feverishly attached to the story and desperately trying to read it so I could find out what happened.

Happily I have now finished it with satisfaction, without being left feeling like there is something missing. It is written skillfully, in a manner that cleverly avoids giving us clues until right near the end. When I realised what I was coming to understand, I flicked backwards to see if the clues were there, and they were neatly avoided.

I agree with another review, that the story of Anthony and Jennifer continues on for such a long time, and just as you're nearly ready to burst, the book suddenly changes pace. However, the new angle of Ellie, John and Rory is just as intriguing. However, the misunderstandings that take place between all parties and all time frames are a little over the top. Surely certain aspects would have been cleared up rather than continue on for so long.

Anyway, I wish I enjoyed it a little more than I did, because I really did like it but I don't quite feel as though it was an amazing read. A wonderful love story, and the hint of more to come beyond the pages.
