Buffy the Vampire Slayer: A Picture Book by

I know...I know...it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. How can you go wrong with those characters? It's like mac n cheese. How can you not like mac n cheese. Except for if it's Kraft mac n cheese. Yuck! Well this is the Kraft mac n cheese of Buffy.

Buffy was always a kick ass female who was not a damsel in distress but she had help with her friends and guidance by Giles. She did not make friends with monsters/demons…well okay, maybe with Angel and Spike but that is a whole other conversation. What I am trying to say is that demons/monsters/vampires are not supposed to be friendly except sometimes. This is more complicated than I thought. See…help you child realize life is not always black and white.

Sort of like the Krampus Baby!

If you don’t want to touch on darker subjects or horror then don’t write a children’s book. Glossing over characters that deal with monsters etc is not loyal to the series and not honest to your children. Don’t dumb down to children. If they are too young then wait until the appropriate age or show them examples of good and evil and help their minds work out what is going on. Maybe your children will not appreciate the same shows you watched and that is okay. It does not take away anything from your childhood.

A good way to do this with humor is Apprentice Lord of Darkness by CED
