Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

4.0

THE ENDING SENT ME. It’s been a while since I cried because of a book.

This is a twisty and very dark thriller centered around 3 sisters. One of them disappeared when she was a teenager, and the other two have spent the rest of their lives trying to both find her and move on from the tragedy that struck their family. When one of their husbands dies, theories and clues start turning up as to the disappearance, and things get really dark.

I really enjoyed this one! It held my attention, and twists and turns were both unpredictable and interesting. This was my first Slaughter book and I would be happy to continue with some of her others. I think she handled the content matter well and as respectfully as possible, given the harsh and depressing reality that these things do happen. I think that the reason this one wasn’t quite 5 stars is because there were some moments when I was a bit uninterested, and domestic thrillers really are not my cup of tea.
