This book was a very intriguing insight into dictators’ lives. I was unaware that Frank Dikötter was the go-to person for the topic! Before I read this as well, I’d not even heard of Ceausescu (of Romania), Mengistu (of Ethiopia) and Duvalier (of Haiti) 😳 Wild!
I’m giving it a 3.5 out of 5 stars because although I wasn’t always gripped, the writing was mostly concise and I felt like I could get an understanding of what times were like during these dictators’ rulings 🥲
I’m recommending it to anyone who’s not heard of the dictators, to get a look into their lives; this book is a good start 👏🏼
Thank you! ✨
