Gone Pecan

Singer/songwriter Riley Jensen steps off the bus in her hometown and runs right into the boy/man who broke her heart, and his seven year old daughter Zoey, who is a big fan. Of course, Ethan was the very last person she wanted to see, but her publicist gives him and his daughter backstage passes to her concert.

Riley and Ethan were high school sweethearts, but she ran off to Nashville as fast as she could when she discovered Ethan had cheated on her. Her entire career was built off the songs she wrote in response to that heartache. And now she’s back to do a biographical television special in her hometown during the holidays. Riley is a foster child with no family and so Ethan’s family reaches out to her so she won’t have to be alone during the holidays.

It was a sweet book, despite Ethan’s cheating ways. The back story about the cheating was interesting and I didn’t hate Ethan, so that’s a plus. Riley was vulnerable, of course, but she was no victim. And I really liked Zoey, Ethan’s daughter, and the rest of the family. In fact, Ethan’s older brother, Wyatt, has his own story coming out next month in the anthology Holiday Kisses, which I just got on netgalley, so be expecting that review imminently.
