Blood that Reigns by Melissa Winters
2.0
This book was slow, in fact, nothing really happened until about 89% of the book. The main character Marina was a contradiction- sometimes she would fall apart easily and other times she was trying to be strong. It was really annoying how she demanded Julian tell her the truth about everything yet she kept secrets and one of them almost got her killed. We learn in this book that the twin who was thought to be dead is actually alive but was taken by the fae. When the book wraps up, this isn't even mentioned! So I'm like what happened to the long lost sister? And this book is a duet so we're not getting another story.
Another point of contention for me is that Marcellus was captured and interrogated but we never find out why he did any of it. This felt really incomplete and I don't feel I got closure from the story ending.
I could go on. There was too much left hanging in the air. I contemplated giving it a 1 star but the writing was at least entertaining enough for me to get through the whole book and for that reason I'll give it a 2.
