Closer by Kylie Scott

It takes the mention of one character from the Stage Dive series before I’m right back in their world.
Mae is a new character to the series, a plus size model who has a dangerous stalker.
Enter Ziggy Thayer, bodyguard.
This book is told from Mae’s pov and she’s an enjoyable character. Funny, capable, not self-deprecating about being plus size. It’s refreshing when plus size characters are in books and it’s not all about their weight, or their opinion on their weight which isn’t his opinion on her weight, you know how it goes.
She doesn’t need him to make her feel sexy and that’s one of the things I love about Kylie Scott’s work.
The other Stage Dive characters make an appearance (even Martha, who I still struggle to like and don’t think is good enough for Sam) here and there which really brings you back to Portland and to this zany group of individuals.
A highlight for me was Mae telling her ex off, the universe knows how badly I’d love to do that to mine.
The chemistry between Mae and Ziggy is portrayed in her interpretation of his glances, volcanic glances and snippets of others noticing him watching her. The wrap up of her stalker happens quickly and without much fanfare or injury to Mae, which serves as a catalyst for Ziggy expressing how he feels to Mae. I would have liked to see more or their relationship after the first night, but I adore this world and would live in it if possible.
The only unanswered question I have is what did Mal do to get banned from the gym?
