The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

5.0

Book 2 of The Queen of the Tearling trilogy.
This fantasy tale picks right up where the first left off. The Mort army is invading the Tear because of the brave and just actions of Queen Kelsea, the young new queen. The Queen must find a way to defeat the evil Red Queen, and to save her kingdom.
This one gets darker than the first novel, fighting against evil people and a corrupt and controlling government. ***Warning: This is NOT a Young Adult / Teen read. Triggers: Descriptive rape, domestic violence, self-cutting / self-harm, strong sexual content. These things are present in the plot for a reason, but is appropriate only for adult readers.
The characters are so well done. This story is a good dramatization of good versus evil. This is an exceptional series that I am loving and do recommend. It is over 500 pages, but it flew by quickly, I was so into the plot.
