Forever After All by Catharina Maura

4.0

"You’ve got me believing in forever, after all.”

All the feels with this one.. and gut wrenching!

Elena Rousseau never wanted to walk into that club. She never anticipated running into the one person that she never saw again after a brief encounter on a night out and now he was standing in the way of something she ultimately had no choice over.

Alexander Kennedy was searching for that mystery woman from the bar, who captivated him and leaving him wanting more. What he didn't expect was to see that same woman standing outside a gentleman's club and realizing it was his brothers best friend.

I have never read anything from this author before and I dove into this book blind just like I do with all other new authors, I should've maybe peeked a bit cause the emotions were TOP NOTCH!
Elena & Alexander were an ember just waiting to grow into a full blown inferno but ultimately it was almost put out when things come to light and truths are revealed, painful and very hurtful truths.

“I’ve spent my entire life loving people that didn’t love me back. I won’t do it again. I won’t. Not even for you.”

My heart was broken into tiny slithers all throughout this book..
Elena's mom..
Elena's fathers treatment of her..
Alexanders treatment of her..

All of Elena's emotions were like a punch to the gut and resonated deeply. If you have never experienced the pain that Elena goes through at those points in the book it is hard to grasp how much it hurts to have those words flung at you so carelessly and them not care of the after effect, it's a hurt that embeds itself deep within. The saying "I'll forgive but I won't forget" that comes to mind everytime.

"You stole my heart day by day, and I didn’t even realize it. I didn’t realize that you fucking own me."

THE VOWS!!
I cannot, those two words are all that need to be said..when you get to this part after everything else you will get it. Whether it's with a dry eye or while the tears dry this part is everything.

I am for sure going to dive into more of this authors books, the next question is do I do blind or do I go in after reading the blurb?
