The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

5.0

All hail, one of my favorite books of all time. The fact that this was my first Kristin Hannah book probably has something to do with that.
I'm not entirely sure if this is 100% accurate, and I'm not a historian so I don't presume to know, but it still brought a new perspective to WWII that I hadn't seen - the French occupation. This is told through the eyes of sisters who are living different lives. As a sister myself, I'm always partial to a sister based story. And this was so sad and so hard to read. The ending?? I literally burst a blood vessel in my eye from crying. For real. I felt every emotion while reading this, as Hannah has a way with words. Also, we don't normally see how the women and children left behind had to deal with war, too.
Basically if you're in the mood to cry and feel many things, read this!
