I'm a huge fan of Aubrey Gordon and her podcast Maintenance Phase. This is part memoir, part research-based argument for fat justice, and part encouraging the reader to confront their implicit biases toward fat people. Like her other work, this impecably researched and Aubrey is quick to also point out her own privilege as a cis white woman of reasonable means and point out that as awful as her experiences are, disabled, queer, trans, poor, immigrant, and POC people have an even harder time with weight discrimination. She also champions other causes that would make life easier everyone, fat or thin, including accessible healthcare, anti-discrimination laws and practices, and confronting bias when seen in others. This and Aubrey's podcast really helped me come around on my own body as a fat person and is really validating for anyone who has struggled to validate their place in the world.
