A Woman of No Importance by Oscar Wilde

"Ah! The world was made for men and not for women.
Oh, don't say that, Lady Stutfield. We have a much better time than they have. There are far more things forbiden."

"Curious thing, plain women are always jealous of their husbands, beautiful women never are!"

"London dinner-parties.
I adore them. The clever people never listen, and the stupid people never talk.
I think the stupid people talk a great deal.
Ah, I never listen!"

"The soul is born old but grows young. That is the comedy of life.
And the body is born young and grows old that is life's tragedy."

"Men always want to be a women's first love. That is their clumsy vanity. We women have a more subtle instinct about things. What we like is to be a man's last romance."

"Don't have one law for men and another for women. You are injust to women in England. And till you count what is a shame in a woman to be an infamy in a man, you will always be injust."

"All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy.
No man does. That is his."

"And the ending is the ordinary ending. The woman suffers. The man goes free."

"Women are hard on each other."

Always a pleasure to read Oscar Wilde. Shameful the way he was treated in his own country.
Other times, hypocritical conduct and morals. Unfortunately this is still valid today.
