The Sydney Rye Mysteries Box Set: Books 1-8 by Emily Kimelman

Did not finish book.
The first book had fatness equated with immorality, a woman with no female affects (so like, the way men write women), unnecessary death of an LGBT+ character to make the cishet characters feel feelings and have motivation, an utterly lackluster, contrived romance with an older man, and sin of sins: unnecessary violence against a cat. I've heard this series gets better but unfortunately, the first book made me lose my appetite entirely.
