Will by Will Smith, Mark Manson

emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring reflective

5.0

The book starts with his childhood in West Philadelphia. He details how his relationship with his parents, neighbors, and friends evolved over time. Additionally, he discusses his life and how he overcame certain challenges that arose due to his father's alcohol addiction. In addition, his mother's push to focus him on academics and being a professional rather than entering the music or film industry.

As the book progresses, he describes his early career as a rapper, selling mixtapes and finding a producer who helped him release his first big debut as a rapper. At the same time, he tried to be a successful comedian. He also spoke about how his focus was not only on success, but equally on being a responsible father and a responsible son. The book continues to discuss his career in Hollywood and how he began as one of the cast members of one of the most famous comedy series (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air).

Will Smith also reflects on his experiences with different actors and how each of them altered his perspective on his career. As Will Smith discusses his struggles with fame and parenting as an African American, he is not afraid to show his weaknesses and difficulties with making judgements. This is especially true in the later chapters.

Towards the end of the book, he explores meditation, visits various countries, has an experience, and finds true meaning in everything. Despite obstacles, there is a lot of humor and wonderful wisdom in this book that inspires readers of all ages to continue improving.

Final Verdict: Will Smith has done a great job showing how his career and life are full of both successes and failures, and why it's not always possible to be successful. No matter how successful you are, there is always a degree of regret and inspiration that moves someone towards a brighter future. I really recommend this book to anyone who wants to be inspired and enjoy the remarkable life of Will Smith.
