Short Ghost and Horror Collection 001 by Ambrose Bierce, M.R. James, Guy Newell Boothby, Algernon Blackwood, Edgar Allan Poe, Lafcadio Hearn, Alan Seeger, Gertrude Atherton, H.G. Wells, Catharine Eastman

3.0

Like most short story collections, some were great, some were good, and some were o.k. Nothing was super bad except one recording was difficult to listen to (levels were all over the place so I had to crank it up, then turn it down) and one was rather monotone. I can overlook those.
My biggest problem was my commute is 15 minutes max (yay me!) which is not conducive to 20-30 minute short stories. Right about the time that I would get my bearings, I would have to stop. When I got back to the stories, there would be a little bit left and I would be confused. That’s on me. Many stories ended abruptly but I’m not going to go back and read them.
I loved “The Masque of the Red Death” and “A Rendezvous with Death”. “Yuki-Onno” was good too. I always look forward to Ambrose Bierce stories and there were several of them.
I look forward to listening to other collections. I’ll know what to expect the next time.
