Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

3.0

I'm probably too old to be starting these, but I'm curious about the later books, as I've heard they're more intense and no doubt Rowling's writing and characters get even better, so I will likely pick up the next one eventually. This first one, though . . . I might well have loved it in fourth grade, but there were a lot of little things that rubbed me the wrong way as an adult whose tastes, no doubt, become ever more strictly defined with each passing year. I suspect as Rowling and her writing mature with each book, I'll start liking the series more and more. The movie will be more than adequate if I ever feel like revisiting this first story, though.
