Wild by Cheryl Strayed

5.0

Wild is Cheryl Strayed's autobiography about how she fell apart after her mother's death and how she put herself together again while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, a trail that goes from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada along the US Western coast.

This was simply an amazing book. I have been on a similar soul searching while hiking in Nepal and so I could relate to what Strayed went through on the trail (although I have fortunately not had the same misfortune as Strayed). The writing is simply breathtaking at times as Strayed writes in this clear, simple and truthful voice. It reads effortlessly as the pages seem to turn by themselves. The biggest feat is how Strayed manages to go to and from the "current" events on the trail to the events of her past.

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Be sure to watch the movie as well!
