Lady Rishe was raised in a noble family, destined to marry the future king of her home country. But at the age of 15, he suddenly breaks off their engagement, her parents disown her, and she sets out to make a new life for herself...seven times. Rishe discovers a peculiar pattern: At the age of 20, she dies due at least in some part to the outbreak of a massive war begun by Prince August Hein. Then, the clock resets, and she awakens at the age of 15 as her engagement to the crown prince is annulled. After her previous six adventures, Rishe decides she wants to take it easy in her seventh life -- and live past the age of 20. But who should throw a wrench in her plans but the man who killed her in her sixth life, Arnold Hein! After a chance meeting with the future emperor, Arnold asks Rishe to marry him, and she agrees in an attempt to put a stop to the war that inevitably claims her life. Both are mysterious and unpredictable forces to be reckoned with, and so begins their relationship as future husband and wife.

I first watched the anime (not knowing it was based on a novel) and loved it so much, I wanted to try the book, and I'm really glad I did! Although the show follows the original storyline pretty closely (at least, up to volume 1), I didn't find myself bored repeating the same story. There are a few differences that I found interesting, but most of all, I enjoyed the little gestures and glimpses into each character's thoughts and feelings that are missed or glossed over in the anime. This is an easy and fun read with intriguing characters and a moderately paced storyline that makes for an enjoyable escape from reality.
