dark mysterious tense fast-paced

4.0

I would only recommend this book/series to other romance readers who have watched every single Fast and Furious movie, including Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.

This action plot of this book got me hooked, I needed to know what happened since it was set up since Book 1! It’s like those crime-action-procedural where each book had a “case of the week,” and then there’s an overarching case going on through the whole season, which finally gets resolved in the season finale. This one, Book 4, was the finale.

I was looking for romance books with East Asian characters which is how I even ended up finding this series; this book was the one I was actually looking forward to.

I could have skipped Book 2, which also had an East Asian character, though not much was done with that other than he had nice dark hair. I skipped Book 3.

Book 4 FINALLY has Angus and Nari hooking up after tension built up throughout the series. I liked the description of Nari and her dark eyes - usually romance is about green/blue/hazel eyes, and I liked this description of her in that style.

The action was nonstop and ridiculous, and luckily the pace is so fast that you don’t have time to think about it!

The found family theme is very sweet.

Everyone has concussions all the time.
