In The Enchanted April, four women agree to share the expenses of renting an Italian villa for the month of April. They don’t really know one another in the beginning; but by the end they’ve become good friends. This story takes a look at their lives and how this holiday helps them learn more about themselves, helps them grow personally, and helps them each find needed healing in their lives.

While this novel is about a number of things, most of all, I think it’s about restoration: restoring themselves, their lives, and their relationships. This book is simply a delight; it's charming, peaceful, and full of depth. The descriptions are exquisite. And it leaves you longing to take a holiday in Italy; or at least meander through some beautiful flower gardens. 🌼

I highly recommend following up a reading of this book with watching the 1991 BBC movie adaptation. I personally like the way the movie handles a couple of aspects better than the book. But I love both the book and movie equally!
