Eternity Girl by Magdalene Visaggio

3.0

ETERNITY GIRL is a disorienting, trippy, and mostly-depressing ride. But what do you expect from a comic about an immortal trying to kill herself?

This took some time to get into: the beginning was very meta, and the narrative jumped through time & space sometimes so abruptly I had no idea where I was. Caroline’s storylines overlap, but her goal remains the same: total eradication of herself.

I liked the multiple timelines and how the artwork accentuated how they overlapped. The art was gorgeously psychedelic. It added to the story immensely.

I didn’t totally understand all of this, and will perhaps need another read-through, but what I understand is this: Caroline was stuck in a loop and thought there was only one way out. Reinventing herself was not an option she knew available to her; she had to break out of the chrysalis to become something new.
