Along Came a Spider by James Patterson

5.0

For the life of me, I have no idea why I thought Alex Cross was a female for so many years. I think perhaps I got Patterson's two series mixed up in my head. And I've never seen the movie versions of any of his books. It was wonderful to go into a book with almost no preconceived notions of what the book would be.

Or maybe I did. I clearly thought this was your typical kidnapping, bad guy vs good cop kind of story. Which it is. Kind of. With a twist.

The characters and the out of nowhere changes in direction kept me going and intrigued throughout the whole novel. The major plot twist came out of nowhere but once it was revealed, the resolution sort of went downhill. This book was a 5 star book right up until that point. 4.5 stars, rounded up because it was soooooo good.
