From the beginning of this story there was incredible humor, amazing banter and some hilariously awkward situations.
This author has a unique writing style and I think the style of humor is so entertaining, as are the multi-dimensional characters. I’m pointing at Shep in this case. I LOVE him!
The moments I cringed for the characters made the story feel so real and relatable. The everyday real, embarrassing things we don’t like to talk about are brought up in the story and for me it’s so refreshing.
Shep is such a fun character and incredibly endearing.
I absolutely adored his sense of humor and his wit made him so very sexy.
He’s kind, he’s straight forward and his playful nature is dream boyfriend material.
I fell for him hard. I absolutely adore him!
Sophie is a bit of a hot mess express.
She has a few things going well in her life, and some basics that really are NOT.
I know she’s portrayed/characterized as a bit of doormat and “too nice”, and as an incredibly generous person (to men in her life in particular.)
Honestly, that wasn’t exactly my take on her.
I do think she let people take advantage of her, BUT, I felt like it wasn’t necessarily only out of extreme niceness. It seemed to me that she did what was easier for her.
Confrontation isn’t her thing, so she allows people to slide on responsibilities and agreements.
Yes, I think she felt sympathy, I just didn’t feel it was the only motivation or emotional thing at play.
In her avoidance of her situations and the bigger truths she wasn’t sharing she really hurts Shep and I think treats him unfairly.
I think she lays the blame on him in a way, claiming they were “friends with exceptions.”
And admittedly they did have an unusual relationship and agreement.
I really did enjoy their banter, their connection and chemistry very much.
I am #TeamShep all the way!
Sophie didn’t completely win me over, however I do like the things the two share in common, there’s no denying their compatibility and connection.
It’s a very enjoyable romantic comedy with so many laugh out loud moments.
Banter and humor for days. The clever factor is undeniable and I love it!
