This book is so cheesy in every way, (and it is most definitely rated R). I  hate cheesy romances and when books are inside of books in the form of letters, so why did I like it so much? The writing is super cheesy. I cannot use that word enough for this book. But I liked the tension with the mom, the fact that it was a book inside a book based in letters but also with the multiple versions of the inside story shared with the readers, the twist at the end which was unexpected, the strong women characters, the fact that virginal sex wasn’t described as painful or unwanted or virginal like so many period pieces, and along the same vein, that all the sex scenes were enjoyably racy. Only thing missing was knowing what happened to her grandfather.
