I'm Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones, Gilly Segal

3.0

It was an interesting novel that offers a glimpse into what riots in the United States might feel like. I enjoyed what the novel tried to do, but I felt like it fell short of its potential because it was scared to be too optimistic or pessimistic putting it somewhere in between.

Sometimes, the characters also were quite strange reacting to situations in very unexpected ways that seemed like jumps in such a small book. There was also no character development which one would assume would happen in this context.

The writing itself was fine, but strange at times with internal dialogue being substituted for description. Overall, I think a few good editors could have really made this into a masterpiece, so I’ll be looking forward to what the authors come up with in the future.
