After scrolling through a bunch of 5 star reviews claiming this twist would blow my ass off (paraphrasing here), I was kinda sad that I correctly guessed the twist within the first few chapters. However, I willingly admit I am not the best person to base twist predictability on, being that my job irl is solve major crimes and I’ve had 15 years of training on the subject. Aka, what is predictable to me will most likely not be the same for most people because I have the tendency to think like a psychopath from the jump lol.
Overall, this was very entertaining and a fast-paced read. It also had like four twists, so it was fun to be able to bounce different theories around as you got to know the characters better. I really enjoyed this and think she has made incredible progress in her writing (or editing budget) since The Housemaid. Definitely worth the read and the ambiance makes it a perfect starting point to set the tone for future spooky-season reads.
