Proxy by Alex London

2.0

I did not feel like this was a well written book. It started with a good precept in which rich kids have proxys that take the punishment if their patron, a kid their age, did something wrong. However, the rest of the plot was pretty cliche: the proxy, named Alex has the secret to helping fix his distopian society, but Alex doen't feel like a hero not does he want to be the hero. The character of Alex is believable, even likeable, but the character Knox is a stereotype.
I was disillusioned with the way the story developed, then just seemed to end - like a letter ended because the writer ran out of paper.
It seemed to me that the main purpose of this book was just to present a homosexual boy as a protagonist. Please don't misunderstand, it is not that I have a problem with this character, it just seemed like the establishment of his sexual preference superseded even the plot development.
