The Saint-Florentin Murders by Jean-François Parot
4.0
After a stellar rise in his career Nicholas le Floch is now sidelined. King Louis is dead and his mentor, Sartine, has moved to a different role in the new administration and the new Police leader does not have trust in Le Floch. However after a set of brutal murders in the home of a chief minister Le Floch is recalled. How do these murders link to the disappearance of two sisters and the appearance of a English spy?
Book five in the series and the groove is there. In this case the plot is complex and quite visceral but the characters move through it with ease. I continue to love the details of food preparation and the deft little characterisations.
