The World We Make by N.K. Jemisin

5.0

I'm back with my babies and i could not me more excited. I'm already excited to relisten on the audiobook because it was fantastic the first time.

It's... It's a duology??? But my BABIESSS :((

But i appreciate the hell out of n.k. for writing this sequel even though she didn't really want to because if i didn't get one more of the cities i would have been so so sad. This was my most anticipated book of the year ! It was much less werid than the first one which i think took away some of the magic of it but i loved getting to see the gang all together, getting to see Neek and Venza and even Bel more. I wanted it to be longer !!! But again , i won't complain cause she barely wanted to write this shit. I love how natural neeks slang felt. And bringing in all the cities was so cool. Manny is Chicago!! Omg!! That was wild and something i didn't see coming. A third book with that dynamic would've been cool af, maybe I'll read some fan fic.

Yeah literally the only thing is I wish this was longer and i could sit with the characters more. I loveddd the discovery of all of them in the first. But i still loved the humor, the love and protection for new York (queens is lit) , the nod at Trump and gentrification.

I'm so glad new York and Manhattan got together, how sweet! And I really really admire and appreciate nk for being so honest about why she's not writing a trilogy and being kind to herself by not forcing one out, but also being so loving as to give us one more!

Such an interesting and werid and loveable series that i will treasure forever.
