Glass by Sam Savage

4.0

Mr. Savage has a unique style of writing. Last year I read Cry of the Sloth which I didn't like as much as Glass. That book and Glass both have a stream-of-consciousness writing style. Or, as in the case of Glass, a stream-of-confusedness (is that a word?) Edna is trying to "type," not write, an intro to her late husband's successful book that is being republished after his death. She is a tragi-comic figure who moves from thought to thought in a definitely non-linear fashion. Reading this can be tedious. However, I found Edna to be an engaging character and was caught up in her ramblings. This is definitely worth a look if you enjoy quirky characters and challenging reading.
