do you take this man is very shondaland-coded. when i tell you that i devoured every single word...

yes, rj was unlikeable at times, but i think that denise williams masterfully presented a REAL guarded woman with flaws. as an avid romance reader, i think that the genre is in dire need of more female leads (especially female leads of COLOUR) who are bitchy. how comes immoral men with abusive tendencies gets people's panties wet, but leading women have to be the second-coming of mother theresa in order to be relatable and worth rooting for???

anyways, williams hit all the sweet spots with this one. rj and lear's back-and-forth was highly engaging. their chemistry was infectious. the selection of weddings was diverse and (mostly) heartwarming. the smut was sizzling. and the character development of our two imperfect leads was super compelling.

enemies-with-benefits-to-lovers done right!!!
