Halle Butler knows depression…. This book resonated with me in the way no book ever has. I got to the last few pages and wondered how it would resolve. Butler ended this story perfectly, and the ending made me tear up. If you’ve been through it and have some point exited the tunnel, even for a brief period, the feeling of reprieve at the end is familiar and refreshing.
This book felt familiar, uncomfortable, and it reflected things at me that I would rather not be reminded of. But it also reminded me of all the good and serenity contained in solitude.
This book is ultimately about loneliness, and how loneliness can be processed and transformed into divinity and peace.
