This book absolutely ᕼᗝᗝᛕᗴᗪ me from the very first page!! It was such an incredibly unique magic system and the world building was SO well written! As someone who devours fantasy, so much of it is so similar and this was just so refreshingly NEW! Nizarra is the current heiress to the throne, and Dagen is the dead former-King. Nizarra is just such a badass who is trying her hardest not to give into her more rage-driven dark impulses while undertaking the high-stakes King’s Duel in order to win her freedom from a forced betrothal. And Dagen is our wickedly handsome half-ghost, half-man deathwalker who makes a deal to steal Nizarra’s soul for his freedom from the god of death, Nil. The tension between Dae and Nizarra was just 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 😮‍💨 and the political intrigue in the book that always had me wondering who exactly to trust and what their motives were was just 🔥🔥

@cortneylwinn you seriously outdid yourself and I was so grateful to be a part of your secret street team to help get this book out in the world where it belongs!!
