Jock Road by Sara Ney

2.0

So I really liked Jock Row and was excited to have a series to go through (even one I knew was gonna be pretty cheesy). I usually don’t have an issue with sports romance series having the same exact plot arc and pace in every book, if it’s not broke don’t fix it, but I think in this series it’s broken and needs to be fixed.

For all the slow burn in every one of these books the romance is very insta love. Sometimes that gets on my nerves but typically authors will throw in some major drama right around 75% when the couple thinks everything’s going smoothly and then Im in it to figure out how they get back together.

Not the case here. Jackson and Charlotte meet, flirt, start dating, have sex, and live happily ever after. In any normal sports romance this wouldn’t be a spoiler because typically there really IS more to it than that, or at least more embellishment. I didn’t feel that here. Actions speak louder than words, even in books. No matter how much Jackson said he only had time for football he never once made a choice that prioritized his sport over time with Charlotte, so that tension didn’t ring true to me. And Charlotte had no obstacle to being in a relationship to begin with so definitely no tension there. Couple that with kinda lackluster banter centering mainly on Jackson’s accent and steamy scenes that weren’t all that steamy and you get an easy but boring read.
