Okay, okay, what to say about this story.
To start, I came into this story with an adult fantasy mindset, so at every turn of the page I was expecting… more. Just, upscale everything to a higher level of dark and dirty. Ya know?
Considering this is YA there was a surprising level of upscaling, however. That being said, I tried my best not to hold my poor mindset against the book.
Now. The ending did throw me for a bit of a loop, and the intersecting romance plots did have me questioning the main characters a few times. That being said, it wasn’t confusing enough to be distracting. The story keeps you moving alone and you understand what’s happening. Plus, villain monologues are gREAT for tying up loose ends… though I did just skim that paragraph because it got too long winded.

Spoiler I am so glad she chose the warm, golden love interest. SO glad. I love him
