I didn't realise until the last 30 pages that this book was a retelling of a well known poem - but now the book makes a lot more sense !
this book has beautiful descriptions by the author and is perfect for people wanting to delve into the best translated and historical fiction

Graphic: Racial slurs, Racism, and Sexual content
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Domestic abuse, Physical abuse, Rape, and Murder
the adult / minor relationship is between a 14 year old girl and a man she was forced to marry. we see that at the start of the book that they have two children together which is somewhat disturbing as she is 14.
