Starring Me by Krista McGee
4.0
I adore this book! When I finished reading "First Date" I wanted to read more by Krista McGee only to find out it she had only published one book. Can you imagine my joy when I realized that she not only was writing another book, but she also was writing a follow-up to her debut novel. In "First Date" Addy was the heroine of the tale and Kara was her spunky roommate competing for the attention of the same boy. Well Kara didn't (I'll let you read it Lol) made an impression on me then so I was happy to see what happened after the show.
In "Starring Me" Kara is auditioning for a role in a new show for teens. And like the competition before she has to be apart of this reality show and compete against other girls to show she is the best person for the role. The twist to the plot is the boy. There is always a boy lol. The male lead in the show is the famous pop star Chad Beacon. His parents want to make sure the right girl who, not only can act but has a great personality and good character, gets the part. They send their housekeeper to act as the house-mother to supervise and get all the dirt on the girls.
But that isn't the best part, Kara and Chad have met through mutual friends Addy and the First Son Jonathan. They instantly hit off but neither knows the other is involved in the show and its great how the whole story plays out.
I think the thing I love most about this book is Kara's journey to understanding what it means to be a christian. She starts out with unbelief and doubts just like everyone else but through Godly counsel and the Holy Spirit she develops a relationship that is greater than any other.
Another good job for Krista McGee!
