Here I am, jumping on the Sally Rooney literary bandwagon at last!
I knew very much what to expect, having watched the TV series -- which I must say did the book justice. I was still surprised by the sheer elegance and tidiness of the prose. There were pages that felt like I was intruding on Connell and Marianne's most intimate moments and battles, as if they were real people.
I think the author did an excellent job at putting into words the maelstrom of emotions and thoughts that originate from knowing that you have found your person, whatever that might mean. Not to mention the bittersweet feeling of life getting in the way.
Fair wairning: miscommunication abounds in this novel. But the ending makes it a necessary pain, I promise.
