Let me start by saying that the author of this book is so courageous for sharing this powerful tale with us! I can imagine how difficult, yet healing, it mustโve been to revisit this time of her life.ย
When the author was a teenager, she was the victim of a heinous crime. This story is a fictionalized retelling of that traumatic experience.ย

In terms of the fictionalized account of her experience, it wasnโt too graphic or gory. At times, I didnโt feel connected to the story due to the writing style (which may have been intentionally vague). I just needed more in terms of the plot, especially considering it was written in this format.ย
Overall, if youโre intrigued by true-crime inspired stories with a bit of magical realism, and can withstand the heavy content, check this out. Please look up the trigger warnings prior to doing so.
