The Colorado Kid by Stephen King
4.0
Having been a fan of the SyFy show Haven since it began I have wanted to read this for some time now. However trying to find an actual physical copy that didn't cost a small fortune proved pretty much impossible so I began to think I'd never get to read it, that was up until I discovered an ebook version of it. The only problem with that was i don't possess an ebook reader of any kind. I was recommended a program called Calibre for the PC that allows you to organise and read pretty much any and all ebooks..and so, I finally got to read this.
Obviously as a Stephen King fan it was pretty much a given that I was likely to enjoy it but I was also pleasantly surprised by just how different to the TV show that it was. I'm aware that the show is only "based on The Colorado Kid", but pretty much names aside there is little else in connection with the show at all.
This is the telling of a mystery..one that remains unsolved and allows you to think and draw your own conclusions. The fact that it was inspired by a real life news story as the author points out in the afterword is all the more intriguing, in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, this is no Sherlock Holmes, although he is referenced throughout the book, or Agatha Christie, who is also referenced, but it's a fun little read that isn't too taxing and if you're fond of a mystery story then you could do far worse I suppose.
